Not a review - Wes Anderson

My middle child has always been my movie buddy. She's a freshman in college now and her tastes have been expanding. Early in Christmas break she suggested we watch Astroid City, which is a Wes Anderson film with very little plot. Big on style. We both really enjoyed it and over break watched Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums and she enjoyed both. We both have already previously seen Grand Budapest and enjoyed that. Maybe we'll keep going through his filmography over the summer.

If you like that much so far, you should continue! I really liked Darjeeling Limited and Life Aquatic along with the ones you mentioned. I even liked Bottle Rocket.

I've tried with Wes, since the days when the Criterion Collection advised me that Rushmore was a masterpiece. My most recent, and possibly last try, was Asteroid City, which I didn't finish. I don't mind his visual style. It's the droll delivery from all the characters. It's like he's got actors and wants them to read instead. To the extent one can assert it's just subjective--fine, it's just not my style. But I think there's an argument to be made that it's objectively dragging down good actors/acting.

I've seen almost all of them. Its watching them with my kid that is the treat.
